Liquid Cold Plate Design & Manufacturing

Cold Plate DesignNiagara Thermal is a global leader in liquid cold plate design, development and manufacturing. As components become more compact yet more powerful, cold plates become the heat transfer design of choice. Our cold plate cooling products are typically used for electronics cooling across the defense, aerospace, commercial and industrial markets. Typical applications include avionics, radar systems,  power generation systems, laser systems, medical systems and Fuel Cell Components.

The liquid cold plate products created by Niagara Thermal include two distinct base models that offer the necessary heat transfer and other system level requirements required in the application:

Evolution™ - Folded Fin Cold Plates

Utilizing our wide array of heat transfer fin and existing manufacturing technologies, we are able to meet or exceed the heat transfer performance of any aluminum brazed cold plate being produced today.

Revolution™ - Microchannel Cold Plates

We have teamed up with the MicroCool™ Division of Wolverine Tube to develop custom microchannel cold plates that have superior heat transfer, reduced size and lower weight.

Custom Cold Plate Design

Cold Plate DesignOur knowledge and experience as a heat exchanger designer and manufacturer gives us a unique ability to work with you in creating custom cold plate cooling solutions designed to achieve your performance requirements. We apply a systems level approach to customize liquid cold plates for your application, supplying a design that becomes your unique solution. Further, our project management team-based approach provides quick and highly responsive design communication and interface.

Niagara Thermal's broad range of manufacturing methods provides an unusually large spectrum of possible strategies for increasing surface area and optimizing fluid flow through the cold plate. Niagara Thermal offers vacuum brazed and machined liquid cold plate designs. Cold plates can be manufactured in materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, copper and cupro nickel, chosen based upon heat transfer or environmental requirements.

Liquid Cold Plate Manufacturing

We employ manufacturing methods that embrace precision, which translate into high performance. Our production and quality processes ensure optimal tolerance control. We have a proven track record of quality in the Aerospace and Defense markets (AS 9100/ISO 9001). Our quality measures ensure an optimal degree of surface flatness and regularity to support the greatest possible heat dissipation per surface area unit of measure. A systems level understanding of the entire liquid or two phase loop coupled with our vertically integrated manufacturing operation offers significant benefits. Our efficiency further offers the flexibility to produce large or small orders at an affordable price.
